Stressed out in life?
If you find yourself feeling terrible in certain situations, this one is for you… read on!!!
Though most of us consider life situations, work place or relationships to be causing us stress, interestingly, it is not true.
Surprised!!! Yes, our thoughts and judgments play a major role in what we feel in those specific situations in life, at work or in a relationship. In reality, none of these can affect us unless we interpret and label them a loss, failure, catastrophic, devastating, irritating, disastrous, frustrating or disappointing, in turn, causing us emotional disturbance. Psychologists believe that our long lasting beliefs about self, life, career, achievement, relationships etc. are crucial in this regard. They may interfere with our day-to-day life, especially when they are erroneous.
However, the good news is we can change our beliefs. Consider this!!!
Situations don’t make you angry or anxious unless you misinterpret them.
Events in life are ‘neutral’. You just assign ‘personal meanings’ to them.
There is no guarantee your thoughts about a situation is what it really meant.
Your judgment about a person or a relationship comes from your ‘own’ beliefs.
There is no guarantee that a specific event ‘really’ mean what you think it is.
The ‘personal significance’ you attribute to events is what causes you stress.
So, have a closer look at your belief system. Does it require a change? Let’s try not to keep judging or assigning personal meaning to events. In essence, let’s have a ‘meaningless life’.
